Why Join Expressworks?

You’ve probably been around the consulting block. You’ve seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. You love the work you do, but you may not love the way you have to do it.

Expressworks offers consultants a refreshingly different paradigm: more of the things you love, less of the things you don’t, and the freedom to choose how you navigate between the two.

The Expressworks Difference: Culture, Choice, Convenience, and Connection

Culture: Come as you are

We value the unique contribution of each individual. Though we’ve always encouraged our colleagues to bring their authentic selves to work, today we are more focused than ever on cultivating the diversity, equity, and inclusion of our organization and we welcome its many dimensions:

  • Gender, sexual orientation, and marital / family structure / caregiver status
  • Race, ethnicity, religion, and self-identification
  • Physical ability, age, experience, skills, and personal style

At Expressworks, we believe diversity of perspective strengthens the impact of our work and when we blend our strengths in pursuit of client success, we’re all the better for it. Though our belief requires continual nurturing – collective focus, introspection, transparency, and personal vulnerability – the benefit to our clients and to us is worth the effort.

Choice: Choose your own adventure

A big driver of career dissatisfaction is feeling forced to work on something that you didn’t choose. With Expressworks, you have the freedom to pursue success on your own terms, according to the balance and flexibility you want in your life.

  • Travel or stay local
  • Work on a team or on your own
  • Work part time or full time

We don’t judge.

You’re encouraged (but never required) to seek out new opportunities that interest you and make your work more meaningful – whether your goal is personal growth, social impact, or financial gain. When you pursue opportunities that match your skills, passions, and interests, we all succeed.

Convenience: The work is hard enough

Fewer hoops, less paperwork and busy work.

Our Support Team handles administrative, non-client related tasks that can bog you down and hog your time. We offer:

  • Client billing and expense processing
  • Access to proven consulting tools and methodologies that supplement what you already know and use
  • Reservoir of deep and varied network talent that can be called on to help scale and balance yours

And whether or not the client pays us, you always get paid for your work as scheduled.

Connection: Enjoy autonomy AND support

Autonomy at Expressworks doesn’t mean you’re on your own. Our company structure promotes collaboration over competition. We help each other out and value and encourage cross-pollination of talent. Expressworks helps you connect with colleagues, subject matter experts, and partners so you can fully benefit from the power of our network:

  • Exchange ideas and share knowledge
  • Form relationships and find thought partners
  • Talk shop or team up

We feel fortunate to work with such an amazing group of people. We’re serious about our work but don’t take ourselves too seriously: we find humor and laugh even when we’re in the thick of it. Even better, when we get together it feels more like a reunion of old friends than a business meeting.

If you think we fit with your goals and this is where you belong, please send your resume to careers@expressworks.com.

“What attracted me to Expressworks was the ability to be able to work with other professionals who really understand this industry, the challenges that organizations are facing and how to overcome those in a way to enable change in an organization.  Being part of a tribe, to me, is important because you feel like you can get as much collaboration as you need to, but also some of the best thinking in the organization to bring to bear on whatever the client’s issues or problems are.  We talk about the 3 C’s and I actually think there’s a fourth, which is our clients, because we don’t exist without them.  I feel like the work we do for them is beyond just your cookie cutter type of consultancy.  It’s about really understanding the issues, the challenges they are facing and then how do you enable them to become high performing in whatever space they need to.”

– Maria Dozlic

“When I joined Expressworks, I recognized immediately that, in order to promote what I want to do, which is in sustainability, I needed a really great group of people who could help implement. Sustainability is another flavor of change. It requires businesses to do things differently than they once did, and they need a pathfinder or journey partner, whatever you want to call it. I recognize that the change management skillset is perfect in this regard.”

– Flora Moon

“What I find really beautiful about what we do is that we really care. We care not about necessarily about looking good, but we care about making our clients look good and ensure they are successful. We care about adding value and we do add value. We work really hard to make a difference and an impact in what we do. It’s less about us and more about serving our clients and the systems that we’re in. And that’s really unique for me. I really value that.”

– Thoraya Halhoul

“We’re not under pressure to fill out forms, attend meetings, or sell the next project. We’re under pressure to work with our clients and deliver what it is that they need and tapping the network when we need to. That’s what we do. We spend all of our time, virtually all of our time, serving our clients and it’s intentional. What ends up happening is, and somewhat expected, if I do good work, more work tends to follow on because people see the value that I can provide to them, not because I’m trying to sell them some methodology or some goods that we get to offer. It’s all about their seeing the value of the services I provide.”

– John Lyden
